Release Date: October 14, 2025

Do you have a personal mantra that guides you? Have you ever felt God’s presence so strongly that it seemed as if He was right beside you? Do you seek His wisdom when faced with tough decisions?

For me, my constant prayer is “Not in my own strength, Lord. Not in my own strength. Guide me. Direct me. Help me.” Since childhood I have experienced God’s undeniable presence, leading me in ways both profound and personal. There are moments when I turn, expecting to see someone beside me, only to realize it is His unseen nearness. When uncertainty arises, I seek clarity through prayer and my own version of the ancient Thummim and Urim – trusting Him to reveal the way forward. God Storys is a compilation of 30 true, standalone vignettes that testify to these Divine encounters – extraordinary moments that are not mere coincidences, but God-instances. May these stories inspire you, strengthen your faith, and open your eyes to His presence in your own life.

About the Author

Born at Queen of Angels Hospital in Los Angeles during one of the city’s largest earthquakes, I took my first breath as the building swayed and the gurney rolled – my parents recount a dramatic beginning marked by both chaos and grace. Life since then has been rich with God’s goodness, meaningful relationships, and profound learning. It has also brought seasons of hardship, loss and shame – yet grace has always abounded.  I am the mother of seven children, two of whom are already in heaven. My five God-fearing, compassionate, and well-educated adult children live in five U. S. states. My greatest joy is spending time with them and my 14 adorable grandchildren. I have spent most of my life working in healthcare and continue to serve part time in my orofacial myofunctional therapy private practice in San Diego County and beyond. I am passionate about proclaiming all that God has done.

More from Victorya

I have been asked, “What is the purpose of this book? I believe that the answer to that question lies in the fact that you are holding this book in your hands and reading these God storys. That is not a coincidence; it is another God incidence. I do not believe in coincidence. I believe that our lives and our world are beautifully orchestrated by a very personal, very relational Creator.

This book is not about me; it is not about spiritual one-upmanship. This book is all about Him … about having a relationship with Him. I am an ordinary person; I am an ordinary Christian. I am merely His scribe writing out of obedience. Even the cover and subtitle of this book reflect God storys. I photographed the sunset from my front door before this book was ever written. The song that I refer to “The Truth”, reflects our royal relationship with Him as our King. The lock on the cover is to be unlocked as you explore your own relationship with Him, the God Who breathed life into our nostrils.

Interview

What do you find the hardest part of the writing process?

The most challenging part of writing my/His book was twofold. The first challenging part was being vulnerable. I am a very private person and sharing my God stories, rather His/God stories, was initially out of my comfort zone. Secondly, it took me years to prioritize the time to go and write out the stories that God had created in my average, humble life. When I finally obeyed His directive, the stories flowed into place.

Tell us about your writing process.

My writing process was both spontaneous and very planned. By nature I am a very organized, detail oriented, planning person. I planned and organized the getaway to go away to write but when it actually came to putting pen to paper, or in my case words to dictation, I was very spontaneous as I was being led by the Holy Spirit. For many years, I was organized and kept track of my/His stories in a notepad on my phone. They were just bare bones, reminders. I learned early on that I was not able to write/type as fast as I could speak/create, so I concluded that dictation would be the best way of communicating His message of proclaiming all that He had done. When I returned home, I hired a transcriber to type His stories.

If you had a free day, what would you do?

When I have a free day my favorite thing to do is to intentionally practice Stillness [Psalm 46:10]. My favorite way that I practice stillness is by sitting on the sand near the Pacific Ocean, having fellowship with God by both listening and praying. I marvel at His creation. Sometimes I close my eyes. Sometimes I lay back and look up and watch the seagulls fly above me. I like the shimmer of sunshine on His vast ocean. I love the smell of the salty air. I relish the sound of the plunging surf. I enjoy the feeling of the sea breeze on my face. I intentionally leave my phone in my car, and it is common for stillness to last 3-4 hours. I miss it when busyness causes longer times in between.

Do you use humor at all in your writing?

My work is nonfiction. Therefore, I am writing about true things and true people. I have personally experienced several times that one of the typically unmentioned attributes of God is His sense of humor. So, because I am writing true stories and I am relaying God's sense of humor in several of the true stories, yes, I use humor in my writing.

What is the easiest part of your writing process?

Since my work is nonfiction, the easiest part of my writing process was creating content. I am simply relaying true stories as they happened and connecting the significance of those stories to proclaiming what God has done, which was my directive.

Tell us about your daily life.

I live an abundant life. No two days of my life are the same. My priority is to have balance in areas of spirituality, relationships, health and my work. For my spirituality, I appreciate my church family. They are strong in applicating God's Word and implementing His command of hospitality. In addition, I intentionally practice Stillness [Psalm 46:10], when I spend alone time in fellowship and prayer with God, particularly on the sand at the Pacific Ocean. I prioritize relationships, spending time with family and friends and being intentional to listen and serve. My work for the past decade has been as an orofacial myofunctional therapist, in private practice in three offices in north San Diego County, in addition to virtual sessions out of state and internationally. I retrain the muscles of the oral cavity and the face and integrate orofacial myofunctional exercises, habits elimination, breathing, and posture, to help eliminate or improve oral facial myofunctional disorders. I recently had a total hip replacement which previously had partially curtailed my mobility. I am looking forward to more mobility and activity, and my favorite exercise of swimming. In addition to everything that I have already mentioned, I enjoy World Travel. I particularly enjoy going places where I can witness the awe and wonder of God's majestic creation.

Tell us something unique about yourself.

Born at Queen of Angels Hospital in Los Angeles, California during one of the city’s largest earthquakes, I took my first breath as the building swayed and the gurney rolled – my parents recounted a dramatic beginning marked by both chaos and grace. As an unborn baby, I was a full term, undiagnosed Placenta Previa, suffocated in my mother’s birth canal, which necessitated an emergency C-section and resuscitation. Life since then has been rich with God’s goodness, meaningful relationships, and profound learning. It has also brought seasons of hardship, loss and shame – yet grace has always abounded.

Share something funny that’s happened to you.

One of the funniest things to happen while I was in the process of writing my book was the story of what I call my Costco Angel. I was taking a break from writing and needed to run an errand to Costco. However, I was, and had been, for a few days in an unusual funk. I rarely get depressed or down, but I had a few days where it was so. I had to go to Costco to pick up a prescription. While I was there, I thought, Ohh, I also need chicken broth. So, I decided to get a cart and pick up the case of chicken broth but that was all that I was purchasing. As I was checking out, and all the other patrons were also checking out, all the carts were heading from the registers to the exit. Then, pushing an empty cart, against the flow of leaving carts, was a senior female. As she came alongside me, she stopped and abruptly grabbed my upper arm with both of her hands. She looked me in my eyes and she said to me “Can I tell you a joke?”  A bit rattled from her grabbing my arm, I hesitantly responded “Y-e-s?”  She asked me a question, “Why can't Cinderella play soccer?” I looked at her questioning, not exactly sure how to respond, and I said “I don't know! … because she was wearing glass slippers?” This senior woman looks at me and smiles and says, “Nope. Cinderella can't play soccer because she ran from the ball.” I started laughing at such a simple, silly joke and at that moment I knew that God, with His infinite sense of humor, had sent her to me to help get me out of my funk. Now, every time I go to Costco, I look to see if my Costco Angel just happens to be there … and it makes me smile.
